Once again I have had a complete overhaul in my ideas. This has come about due to concerns about simplicity of filming, simplicity of gaining the correct acting talent something as emotionally demanding as a film like Joe would require and most importantly the simplicity of creating a piece of film that fits in with my calibre of skills as a film maker. This is the details of my new idea:
As a teenager I feel I understand the teenage market better than a middle aged market. Therefore it would make perfect sense to make a film that teenagers will engage with, understand and enjoy. The market is filled with hard hitting heavy going films when it comes to youth with titles such as This is England, Kidulthood, Quadrophenia, A Clockwork Orange, London to Brighton. They all have an agenda to make growing up seem gritty and difficult. They all have protaganists with struggles at home and socially and who will constantly place themselves at risk for the sake of an anarchic dream. It just doesn't seem real any more. The market for coming of age light hearted youths has been re-energised recently with the birth and success of the E4 comedy series The Inbetweeners.
